Alokito Teacher

I redesigned Alokito Teacher and added a job marketplace, giving teachers one place to build skills and find work while schools got a direct hiring path.

The challenge

The product had to do two connected jobs: help teachers choose and buy courses, and help institutions hire them. The redesign needed to make both paths clear without turning the site into two separate products.

Primary audiences

Teachers
Need a clear way to compare courses, understand pricing and move from learning to job opportunities.
Institutions and schools
Need a focused way to publish roles and review applicants with relevant training.

What shaped the work

The client brief brought two experiences together: an education business selling courses and a new marketplace connecting teachers with schools. The information architecture had to make that relationship understandable.

Insights

  • Course discovery, pricing and job search needed to feel connected because the same teachers moved between them.
  • The job marketplace needed distinct paths for teachers and institutions.
  • Individual courses and higher-value packages needed to be easy to compare without crowding the homepage.
Competitor analysis1 note
  • The comparison focused on how education platforms organise course discovery and how job portals separate search, application and hiring tasks.

Key decisions

What I changed and why

One path from learning to work
Connected course discovery, pricing and job opportunities instead of presenting them as unrelated destinations.
Faster job search for teachers
Designed search, filters and application steps around the information a teacher needs to decide whether a role fits.
A separate hiring path for institutions
Gave schools a focused route to publish jobs and manage applicants without mixing those actions into the teacher experience.

Wireframes2 notes
  • Used low-fidelity layouts to connect the homepage, course catalogue, pricing and job marketplace.
  • Refined the high-fidelity prototype with direct client feedback.
Visual direction2 notes
  • Balanced an energetic education brand with clear type, controlled colour and predictable page patterns.
  • Designed the main teacher journeys mobile-first.
